يَوْمَ يَقُولُ ٱلْمُنَـٰفِقُونَ وَٱلْمُنَـٰفِقَـٰتُ لِلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ ٱنظُرُونَا نَقْتَبِسْ مِن نُّورِكُمْ قِيلَ ٱرْجِعُواْ وَرَآءَكُمْ فَٱلْتَمِسُواْ نُورًا فَضُرِبَ بَيْنَهُم بِسُورٍ لَّهُۥ بَابُۢ بَاطِنُهُۥ فِيهِ ٱلرَّحْمَةُ وَظَـٰهِرُهُۥ مِن قِبَلِهِ ٱلْعَذَابُ ١٣
On that Day hypocrite men and women will beg the believers, “Wait for us so that we may have some of your light.” It will be said ?mockingly?, “Go back ?to the world? and seek a light ?there?!” Then a ?separating? wall with a gate will be erected between them. On the near side will be grace and on the far side will be torment.
يَوْمَ تَرَى ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِ يَسْعَىٰ نُورُهُم بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَبِأَيْمَـٰنِهِم بُشْرَٮٰكُمُ ٱلْيَوْمَ جَنَّـٰتٌ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَاۚ ذَٲلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ ١٢
On that Day you will see believing men and women with their light shining ahead of them and on their right. ?They will be told,? “Today you have good news of Gardens, under which rivers flow, ?for you? to stay in forever. This is ?truly? the ultimate triumph.”
مَّن ذَا ٱلَّذِى يُقْرِضُ ٱللَّهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًا فَيُضَـٰعِفَهُۥ لَهُۥ وَلَهُۥٓ أَجْرٌ كَرِيمٌ ١١
Who is it that will lend to Allah a good loan which Allah will multiply ?many times over? for them, and they will have an honourable reward?
وَمَا لَكُمْ أَلَّا تُنفِقُواْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَلِلَّهِ مِيرَٲثُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِۚ لَا يَسْتَوِى مِنكُم مَّنْ أَنفَقَ مِن قَبْلِ ٱلْفَتْحِ وَقَـٰتَلَۚ أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ أَعْظَمُ دَرَجَةً مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَنفَقُواْ مِنۢ بَعْدُ وَقَـٰتَلُواْۚ وَكُلاًّ وَعَدَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْحُسْنَىٰۚ وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرٌ ١٠
And why should you not spend in the cause of Allah, while Allah is the ?sole? inheritor of the heavens and the earth? Those of you who donated and fought before the victory ?over Mecca? are unparalleled. They are far greater in rank than those who donated and fought afterwards. Yet Allah has promised each a fine reward. And Allah is All-Aware of what you do.
هُوَ ٱلَّذِى يُنَزِّلُ عَلَىٰ عَبْدِهِۦٓ ءَايَـٰتِۭ بَيِّنَـٰتٍ لِّيُخْرِجَكُم مِّنَ ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ إِلَى ٱلنُّورِۚ وَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِكُمْ لَرَءُوفٌ رَّحِيمٌ ٩
He is the One Who sends down clear revelations to His servant to bring you out of darkness and into light. For indeed Allah is Ever Gracious and Most Merciful to you.
وَمَا لَكُمْ لَا تُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِۙ وَٱلرَّسُولُ يَدْعُوكُمْ لِتُؤْمِنُواْ بِرَبِّكُمْ وَقَدْ أَخَذَ مِيثَـٰقَكُمْ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ ٨
Why do you not believe in Allah while the Messenger is inviting you to have faith in your Lord, although He has already taken your covenant, if you will ever believe.
ءَامِنُواْ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ وَأَنفِقُواْ مِمَّا جَعَلَكُم مُّسْتَخْلَفِينَ فِيهِۖ فَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مِنكُمْ وَأَنفَقُواْ لَهُمْ أَجْرٌ كَبِيرٌ ٧
Believe in Allah and His Messenger, and donate from what He has entrusted you with. So those of you who believe and donate will have a mighty reward.
يُولِجُ ٱلَّيْلَ فِى ٱلنَّهَارِ وَيُولِجُ ٱلنَّهَارَ فِى ٱلَّيْلِۚ وَهُوَ عَلِيمُۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ ٦
He merges the night into day and the day into night. And He knows best what is ?hidden? in the heart.
لَّهُۥ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِۚ وَإِلَى ٱللَّهِ تُرْجَعُ ٱلْأُمُورُ ٥
To Him belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. And to Allah all matters are returned.
هُوَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ فِى سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ ثُمَّ ٱسْتَوَىٰ عَلَى ٱلْعَرْشِۚ يَعْلَمُ مَا يَلِجُ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا يَخْرُجُ مِنْهَا وَمَا يَنزِلُ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَمَا يَعْرُجُ فِيهَاۖ وَهُوَ مَعَكُمْ أَيْنَ مَا كُنتُمْۚ وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ ٤
He is the One Who created the heavens and the earth in six Days, then established Himself on the Throne. He knows whatever goes into the earth and whatever comes out of it, and whatever descends from the sky and whatever ascends into it. And He is with you wherever you are. For Allah is All-Seeing of what you do.
هُوَ ٱلْأَوَّلُ وَٱلْأَخِرُ وَٱلظَّـٰهِرُ وَٱلْبَاطِنُۖ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمٌ ٣
He is the First and the Last, the Most High and Most Near, and He has ?perfect? knowledge of all things.
لَهُۥ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِۖ يُحْىِۦ وَيُمِيتُۖ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ ٢
To Him belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. He gives life and causes death. And He is Most Capable of everything.
سَبَّحَ لِلَّهِ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِۖ وَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ ١
Whatever is in the heavens and the earth glorifies Allah, for He is the Almighty, All-Wise.
فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ ٩٦
So glorify the Name of your Lord, the Greatest.
إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَهُوَ حَقُّ ٱلْيَقِينِ ٩٥
Indeed, this is the absolute truth.
وَتَصْلِيَةُ جَحِيمٍ ٩٤
and burning in Hellfire.
فَنُزُلٌ مِّنْ حَمِيمٍ ٩٣
then their accommodation will be boiling water ?to drink?
وَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ ٩٢
But if such person is one of the misguided deniers,
فَسَلَـٰمٌ لَّكَ مِنْ أَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ ٩١
then ?they will be told,? “Greetings to you from the people of the right.”
وَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ ٩٠
And if the deceased is one of the people of the right,
فَرَوْحٌ وَرَيْحَانٌ وَجَنَّتُ نَعِيمٍ ٨٩
then ?such a person will have? serenity, fragrance, and a Garden of Bliss.
فَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ ٨٨
So, if the deceased is one of those brought near ?to Us?,
تَرْجِعُونَهَآ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ ٨٧
bring that soul back, if what you say is true.
فَلَوْلَآ إِن كُنتُمْ غَيْرَ مَدِينِينَ ٨٦
Now, if you are not subject to Our Will ?as you claim?,
وَنَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنكُمْ وَلَـٰكِن لَّا تُبْصِرُونَ ٨٥
And We are nearer to such a person than you, but you cannot see.
وَأَنتُمْ حِينَئِذٍ تَنظُرُونَ ٨٤
while you are looking on?
فَلَوْلَآ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ ٱلْحُلْقُومَ ٨٣
Why then ?are you helpless? when the soul ?of a dying person? reaches ?their? throat,
وَتَجْعَلُونَ رِزْقَكُمْ أَنَّكُمْ تُكَذِّبُونَ ٨٢
and repay ?Allah for? your provisions with denial?
أَفَبِهَـٰذَا ٱلْحَدِيثِ أَنتُم مُّدْهِنُونَ ٨١
How can you then take this message lightly,
تَنزِيلٌ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ٨٠
?It is? a revelation from the Lord of all worlds.
لَّا يَمَسُّهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلْمُطَهَّرُونَ ٧٩
touched by none except the purified ?angels?.
فِى كِتَـٰبٍ مَّكْنُونٍ ٧٨
in a well-preserved Record,
إِنَّهُۥ لَقُرْءَانٌ كَرِيمٌ ٧٧
that this is truly a noble Quran,
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَقَسَمٌ لَّوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عَظِيمٌ ٧٦
and this, if only you knew, is indeed a great oath—
۞ فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِمَوَٲقِعِ ٱلنُّجُومِ ٧٥
So I do swear by the positions of the stars—
فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ ٧٤
So glorify the Name of your Lord, the Greatest.
نَحْنُ جَعَلْنَـٰهَا تَذْكِرَةً وَمَتَـٰعًا لِّلْمُقْوِينَ ٧٣
We have made it ?as? a reminder ?of the Hellfire? and a provision for the travellers.
ءَأَنتُمْ أَنشَأْتُمْ شَجَرَتَهَآ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْمُنشِــُٔونَ ٧٢
Is it you who produce its trees, or is it We Who do so?
أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ ٱلنَّارَ ٱلَّتِى تُورُونَ ٧١
Have you considered the fire you kindle?
لَوْ نَشَآءُ جَعَلْنَـٰهُ أُجَاجًا فَلَوْلَا تَشْكُرُونَ ٧٠
If We willed, We could make it salty. Will you not then give thanks?
ءَأَنتُمْ أَنزَلْتُمُوهُ مِنَ ٱلْمُزْنِ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْمُنزِلُونَ ٦٩
Is it you who bring it down from the clouds, or is it We Who do so?
أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ ٱلْمَآءَ ٱلَّذِى تَشْرَبُونَ ٦٨
Have you considered the water you drink?
بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ ٦٧
In fact, we have been deprived ?of our livelihood?.”
إِنَّا لَمُغْرَمُونَ ٦٦
“We have truly suffered a ?great? loss.
لَوْ نَشَآءُ لَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ حُطَـٰمًا فَظَلْتُمْ تَفَكَّهُونَ ٦٥
If We willed, We could simply reduce this ?harvest? to chaff, leaving you to lament,
ءَأَنتُمْ تَزْرَعُونَهُۥٓ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلزَّٲرِعُونَ ٦٤
Is it you who cause it to grow, or is it We Who do so?
أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا تَحْرُثُونَ ٦٣
Have you considered what you sow?
وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْتُمُ ٱلنَّشْأَةَ ٱلْأُولَىٰ فَلَوْلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ ٦٢
You already know how you were first created. Will you not then be mindful?
عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّبَدِّلَ أَمْثَـٰلَكُمْ وَنُنشِئَكُمْ فِى مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ ٦١
from transforming and recreating you in forms unknown to you.
نَحْنُ قَدَّرْنَا بَيْنَكُمُ ٱلْمَوْتَ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ ٦٠
We have ordained death for ?all of? you, and We cannot be prevented
ءَأَنتُمْ تَخْلُقُونَهُۥٓ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْخَـٰلِقُونَ ٥٩
Is it you who create ?a child out of? it, or is it We Who do so?
أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا تُمْنُونَ ٥٨
Have you considered what you ejaculate?
نَحْنُ خَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ فَلَوْلَا تُصَدِّقُونَ ٥٧
It is We Who created you. Will you not then believe ?in resurrection??
هَـٰذَا نُزُلُهُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلدِّينِ ٥٦
This will be their accommodation on the Day of Judgment.
فَشَـٰرِبُونَ شُرْبَ ٱلْهِيمِ ٥٥
and you will drink ?it? like thirsty camels do.”
فَشَـٰرِبُونَ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ ٱلْحَمِيمِ ٥٤
Then on top of that you will drink boiling water—
فَمَالِــُٔونَ مِنْهَا ٱلْبُطُونَ ٥٣
filling up ?your? bellies with it.
لَأَكِلُونَ مِن شَجَرٍ مِّن زَقُّومٍ ٥٢
will certainly eat from ?the fruit of? the trees of Zaqqûm,
ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمْ أَيُّهَا ٱلضَّآلُّونَ ٱلْمُكَذِّبُونَ ٥١
Then you, O misguided deniers,
لَمَجْمُوعُونَ إِلَىٰ مِيقَـٰتِ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ ٥٠
will surely be gathered ?together? for the appointed Day.
قُلْ إِنَّ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ وَٱلْأَخِرِينَ ٤٩
Say, ?O Prophet,? “Most certainly, earlier and later generations
أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ ٤٨
And our forefathers as well?”
إِنَّهُمْ كَانُواْ قَبْلَ ذَٲلِكَ مُتْرَفِينَ ٤٥
Indeed, before this ?torment? they were spoiled by luxury,
وَكَانُواْ يُصِرُّونَ عَلَى ٱلْحِنثِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ ٤٦
and persisted in the worst of sin.
وَكَانُواْ يَقُولُونَ أَئِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ ٤٧
They used to ask ?mockingly?, “When we are dead and reduced to dust and bones, will we really be resurrected?
لِّئَلَّا يَعْلَمَ أَهْلُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ أَلَّا يَقْدِرُونَ عَلَىٰ شَىْءٍ مِّن فَضْلِ ٱللَّهِۙ وَأَنَّ ٱلْفَضْلَ بِيَدِ ٱللَّهِ يُؤْتِيهِ مَن يَشَآءُۚ وَٱللَّهُ ذُو ٱلْفَضْلِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ ٢٩
?This is so? that the People of the Book ?who deny the Prophet? may know that they do not have any control over Allah’s grace, and that all grace is in Allah’s Hands. He grants it to whoever He wills. For Allah is the Lord of infinite bounty.
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ ٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَءَامِنُواْ بِرَسُولِهِۦ يُؤْتِكُمْ كِفْلَيْنِ مِن رَّحْمَتِهِۦ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ نُورًا تَمْشُونَ بِهِۦ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْۚ وَٱللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ ٢٨
O people of faith! Fear Allah and believe in His Messenger. ?And? He will grant you a double share of His mercy, provide you with a light to walk in ?on Judgment Day?, and forgive you. For Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
ثُمَّ قَفَّيْنَا عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَـٰرِهِم بِرُسُلِنَا وَقَفَّيْنَا بِعِيسَى ٱبْنِ مَرْيَمَ وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ ٱلْإِنجِيلَ وَجَعَلْنَا فِى قُلُوبِ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّبَعُوهُ رَأْفَةً وَرَحْمَةً وَرَهْبَانِيَّةً ٱبْتَدَعُوهَا مَا كَتَبْنَـٰهَا عَلَيْهِمْ إِلَّا ٱبْتِغَآءَ رِضْوَٲنِ ٱللَّهِ فَمَا رَعَوْهَا حَقَّ رِعَايَتِهَاۖ فَـَٔـاتَيْنَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مِنْهُمْ أَجْرَهُمْۖ وَكَثِيرٌ مِّنْهُمْ فَـٰسِقُونَ ٢٧
Then in the footsteps of these ?prophets?, We sent Our messengers, and ?after them? We sent Jesus, son of Mary, and granted him the Gospel, and instilled compassion and mercy into the hearts of his followers. As for monasticism, they made it up—We never ordained it for them—only seeking to please Allah, yet they did not ?even? observe it strictly. So We rewarded those of them who were faithful. But most of them are rebellious.
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا وَإِبْرَٲهِيمَ وَجَعَلْنَا فِى ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا ٱلنُّبُوَّةَ وَٱلْكِتَـٰبَۖ فَمِنْهُم مُّهْتَدٍۖ وَكَثِيرٌ مِّنْهُمْ فَـٰسِقُونَ ٢٦
And indeed, We sent Noah and Abraham and reserved prophethood and revelation for their descendants. Some of them are ?rightly? guided, while most are rebellious.
لَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا رُسُلَنَا بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِ وَأَنزَلْنَا مَعَهُمُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ وَٱلْمِيزَانَ لِيَقُومَ ٱلنَّاسُ بِٱلْقِسْطِۖ وَأَنزَلْنَا ٱلْحَدِيدَ فِيهِ بَأْسٌ شَدِيدٌ وَمَنَـٰفِعُ لِلنَّاسِ وَلِيَعْلَمَ ٱللَّهُ مَن يَنصُرُهُۥ وَرُسُلَهُۥ بِٱلْغَيْبِۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ قَوِىٌّ عَزِيزٌ ٢٥
Indeed, We sent Our messengers with clear proofs, and with them We sent down the Scripture and the balance ?of justice? so that people may administer justice. And We sent down iron with its great might, benefits for humanity, and means for Allah to prove who ?is willing to? stand up for Him and His messengers without seeing Him. Surely Allah is All-Powerful, Almighty.
ٱلَّذِينَ يَبْخَلُونَ وَيَأْمُرُونَ ٱلنَّاسَ بِٱلْبُخْلِۗ وَمَن يَتَوَلَّ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلْغَنِىُّ ٱلْحَمِيدُ ٢٤
those who are stingy and promote stinginess among people. And whoever turns away ?should know that? Allah ?alone? is truly the Self-Sufficient, Praiseworthy.
لِّكَيْلَا تَأْسَوْاْ عَلَىٰ مَا فَاتَكُمْ وَلَا تَفْرَحُواْ بِمَآ ءَاتَـٰكُمْۗ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ كُلَّ مُخْتَالٍ فَخُورٍ ٢٣
?We let you know this? so that you neither grieve over what you have missed nor boast over what He has granted you. For Allah does not like whoever is arrogant, boastful—
مَآ أَصَابَ مِن مُّصِيبَةٍ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِىٓ أَنفُسِكُمْ إِلَّا فِى كِتَـٰبٍ مِّن قَبْلِ أَن نَّبْرَأَهَآۚ إِنَّ ذَٲلِكَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ يَسِيرٌ ٢٢
No calamity ?or blessing? occurs on earth or in yourselves without being ?written? in a Record before We bring it into being. This is certainly easy for Allah.
سَابِقُوٓاْ إِلَىٰ مَغْفِرَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَجَنَّةٍ عَرْضُهَا كَعَرْضِ ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ أُعِدَّتْ لِلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ بِٱللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِۦۚ ذَٲلِكَ فَضْلُ ٱللَّهِ يُؤْتِيهِ مَن يَشَآءُۚ وَٱللَّهُ ذُو ٱلْفَضْلِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ ٢١
?So? compete with one another for forgiveness from your Lord and a Paradise as vast as the heavens and the earth, prepared for those who believe in Allah and His messengers. This is the favour of Allah. He grants it to whoever He wills. And Allah is the Lord of infinite bounty.
ٱعْلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّمَا ٱلْحَيَوٲةُ ٱلدُّنْيَا لَعِبٌ وَلَهْوٌ وَزِينَةٌ وَتَفَاخُرُۢ بَيْنَكُمْ وَتَكَاثُرٌ فِى ٱلْأَمْوَٲلِ وَٱلْأَوْلَـٰدِۖ كَمَثَلِ غَيْثٍ أَعْجَبَ ٱلْكُفَّارَ نَبَاتُهُۥ ثُمَّ يَهِيجُ فَتَرَٮٰهُ مُصْفَرًّا ثُمَّ يَكُونُ حُطَـٰمًاۖ وَفِى ٱلْأَخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ شَدِيدٌ وَمَغْفِرَةٌ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَرِضْوَٲنٌۚ وَمَا ٱلْحَيَوٲةُ ٱلدُّنْيَآ إِلَّا مَتَـٰعُ ٱلْغُرُورِ ٢٠
Know that this worldly life is no more than play, amusement, luxury, mutual boasting, and competition in wealth and children. This is like rain that causes plants to grow, to the delight of the planters. But later the plants dry up and you see them wither, then they are reduced to chaff. And in the Hereafter there will be either severe punishment or forgiveness and pleasure of Allah, whereas the life of this world is no more than the delusion of enjoyment.
وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ بِٱللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِۦٓ أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلصِّدِّيقُونَۖ وَٱلشُّهَدَآءُ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ لَهُمْ أَجْرُهُمْ وَنُورُهُمْۖ وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ وَكَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔـايَـٰتِنَآ أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْجَحِيمِ ١٩
?As for? those who believe in Allah and His messengers, it is they who are ?truly? the people of truth. And the martyrs, with their Lord, will have their reward and their light. But ?as for? those who disbelieve and reject Our signs, it is they who will be the residents of the Hellfire.
إِنَّ ٱلْمُصَّدِّقِينَ وَٱلْمُصَّدِّقَـٰتِ وَأَقْرَضُواْ ٱللَّهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًا يُضَـٰعَفُ لَهُمْ وَلَهُمْ أَجْرٌ كَرِيمٌ ١٨
Indeed, those men and women who give in charity and lend to Allah a good loan will have it multiplied for them, and they will have an honourable reward.
ٱعْلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُحْىِ ٱلْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَاۚ قَدْ بَيَّنَّا لَكُمُ ٱلْأَيَـٰتِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ ١٧
Know that Allah revives the earth after its death. We have certainly made the signs clear for you so perhaps you will understand.
۞ أَلَمْ يَأْنِ لِلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ أَن تَخْشَعَ قُلُوبُهُمْ لِذِكْرِ ٱللَّهِ وَمَا نَزَلَ مِنَ ٱلْحَقِّ وَلَا يَكُونُواْ كَٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ مِن قَبْلُ فَطَالَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْأَمَدُ فَقَسَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْۖ وَكَثِيرٌ مِّنْهُمْ فَـٰسِقُونَ ١٦
Has the time not yet come for believers’ hearts to be humbled at the remembrance of Allah and what has been revealed of the truth, and not be like those given the Scripture before—?those? who were spoiled for so long that their hearts became hardened. And many of them are ?still? rebellious.
فَٱلْيَوْمَ لَا يُؤْخَذُ مِنكُمْ فِدْيَةٌ وَلَا مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْۚ مَأْوَٮٰكُمُ ٱلنَّارُۖ هِىَ مَوْلَـٰكُمْۖ وَبِئْسَ ٱلْمَصِيرُ ١٥
So Today no ransom will be accepted from you ?hypocrites?, nor from the disbelievers. Your home is the Fire—it is the ?only? fitting place for you. What an evil destination!”
يُنَادُونَهُمْ أَلَمْ نَكُن مَّعَكُمْۖ قَالُواْ بَلَىٰ وَلَـٰكِنَّكُمْ فَتَنتُمْ أَنفُسَكُمْ وَتَرَبَّصْتُمْ وَٱرْتَبْتُمْ وَغَرَّتْكُمُ ٱلْأَمَانِىُّ حَتَّىٰ جَآءَ أَمْرُ ٱللَّهِ وَغَرَّكُم بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْغَرُورُ ١٤
The tormented will cry out to those graced, “Were we not with you?” They will reply, “Yes ?you were?. But you chose to be tempted ?by hypocrisy?, ?eagerly? awaited ?our demise?, doubted ?the truth?, and were deluded by false hopes until Allah’s decree ?of your death? came to pass. And ?so? the Chief Deceiver deceived you about Allah.
تَنزِعُ ٱلنَّاسَ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ مُّنقَعِرٍ ٢٠
that snatched people up, leaving them like trunks of uprooted palm trees.
إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ رِيحًا صَرْصَرًا فِى يَوْمِ نَحْسٍ مُّسْتَمِرٍّ ١٩
Indeed, We sent against them a furious wind, on a day of unrelenting misery,
كَذَّبَتْ عَادٌ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ ١٨
’?d ?also? rejected ?the truth?. Then how ?dreadful? were My punishment and warnings!
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ ١٧
And We have certainly made the Quran easy to remember. So is there anyone who will be mindful?
فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ ١٦
Then how ?dreadful? were My punishment and warnings!
وَلَقَد تَّرَكْنَـٰهَآ ءَايَةً فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ ١٥
We certainly left this as a sign. So is there anyone who will be mindful?
تَجْرِى بِأَعْيُنِنَا جَزَآءً لِّمَن كَانَ كُفِرَ ١٤
sailing under Our ?watchful? Eyes—a ?fair? punishment on behalf of the one ?they? denied.
وَحَمَلْنَـٰهُ عَلَىٰ ذَاتِ أَلْوَٲحٍ وَدُسُرٍ ١٣
We carried him on that ?Ark made? of planks and nails,
وَفَجَّرْنَا ٱلْأَرْضَ عُيُونًا فَٱلْتَقَى ٱلْمَآءُ عَلَىٰٓ أَمْرٍ قَدْ قُدِرَ ١٢
and caused the earth to burst with springs, so the waters met for a fate already set.
فَفَتَحْنَآ أَبْوَٲبَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ بِمَآءٍ مُّنْهَمِرٍ ١١
So We opened the gates of the sky with pouring rain,
فَدَعَا رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنِّى مَغْلُوبٌ فَٱنتَصِرْ ١٠
So he cried out to his Lord, “I am helpless, so help ?me?!”
۞ كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ فَكَذَّبُواْ عَبْدَنَا وَقَالُواْ مَجْنُونٌ وَٱزْدُجِرَ ٩
Before them, the people of Noah denied ?the truth? and rejected Our servant, calling ?him? insane. And he was intimidated.
مُّهْطِعِينَ إِلَى ٱلدَّاعِۖ يَقُولُ ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ هَـٰذَا يَوْمٌ عَسِرٌ ٨
rushing towards the caller. The disbelievers will cry, “This is a difficult Day!”
خُشَّعًا أَبْصَـٰرُهُمْ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ ٱلْأَجْدَاثِ كَأَنَّهُمْ جَرَادٌ مُّنتَشِرٌ ٧
With eyes downcast, they will come forth from the graves as if they were swarming locusts,
فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْۘ يَوْمَ يَدْعُ ٱلدَّاعِ إِلَىٰ شَىْءٍ نُّكُرٍ ٦
So turn away from them ?O Prophet?. ?And wait for? the Day ?when? the caller will summon ?them? for something horrifying.
حِكْمَةُۢ بَـٰلِغَةٌۖ فَمَا تُغْنِ ٱلنُّذُرُ ٥
?This Quran is? profound ?in? wisdom, but warnings are of no benefit ?to them?.
وَلَقَدْ جَآءَهُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَنۢبَآءِ مَا فِيهِ مُزْدَجَرٌ ٤
even though the stories ?of destroyed nations? that have already come to them are a sufficient deterrent.
وَكَذَّبُواْ وَٱتَّبَعُوٓاْ أَهْوَآءَهُمْۚ وَكُلُّ أَمْرٍ مُّسْتَقِرٌّ ٣
They rejected ?the truth? and followed their own desires—and every matter will be settled—
وَإِن يَرَوْاْ ءَايَةً يُعْرِضُواْ وَيَقُولُواْ سِحْرٌ مُّسْتَمِرٌّ ٢
Yet, whenever they see a sign, they turn away, saying, “Same old magic!”
ٱقْتَرَبَتِ ٱلسَّاعَةُ وَٱنشَقَّ ٱلْقَمَرُ ١
The Hour has drawn near and the moon was split ?in two?.
فَٱسْجُدُواْ لِلَّهِ وَٱعْبُدُواْ ۩ ٦٢
Instead, prostrate to Allah and worship ?Him alone?!
وَأَنتُمْ سَـٰمِدُونَ ٦١
while persisting in heedlessness?
وَتَضْحَكُونَ وَلَا تَبْكُونَ ٦٠
laughing ?at it? and not weeping ?in awe?,
أَفَمِنْ هَـٰذَا ٱلْحَدِيثِ تَعْجَبُونَ ٥٩
Do you find this revelation astonishing,
لَيْسَ لَهَا مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ كَاشِفَةٌ ٥٨
None but Allah can disclose it.
أَزِفَتِ ٱلْأَزِفَةُ ٥٧
The approaching ?Hour? has drawn near.
هَـٰذَا نَذِيرٌ مِّنَ ٱلنُّذُرِ ٱلْأُولَىٰٓ ٥٦
This ?Prophet? is a warner like earlier ones.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكَ تَتَمَارَىٰ ٥٥
Now, which of your Lord’s favours will you dispute?
فَغَشَّـٰهَا مَا غَشَّىٰ ٥٤
How overwhelming was what covered ?them?!
وَٱلْمُؤْتَفِكَةَ أَهْوَىٰ ٥٣
And ?it was? He ?Who? turned the cities ?of Sodom and Gomorrah? upside down.
وَقَوْمَ نُوحٍ مِّن قَبْلُۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُواْ هُمْ أَظْلَمَ وَأَطْغَىٰ ٥٢
And before ?that He destroyed? the people of Noah, who were truly far worse in wrongdoing and transgression.
وَثَمُودَاْ فَمَآ أَبْقَىٰ ٥١
and ?then? Thamûd, sparing no one.
وَأَنَّهُۥٓ أَهْلَكَ عَادًا ٱلْأُولَىٰ ٥٠
And He destroyed the first ?people of? ’?d,
وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ رَبُّ ٱلشِّعْرَىٰ ٤٩
And He alone is the Lord of Sirius.
وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَغْنَىٰ وَأَقْنَىٰ ٤٨
And He is the One Who enriches and impoverishes.
وَأَنَّ عَلَيْهِ ٱلنَّشْأَةَ ٱلْأُخْرَىٰ ٤٧
And it is upon Him to bring about re-creation.
مِن نُّطْفَةٍ إِذَا تُمْنَىٰ ٤٦
from a sperm-drop when it is emitted.
وَأَنَّهُۥ خَلَقَ ٱلزَّوْجَيْنِ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلْأُنثَىٰ ٤٥
And He created the pairs—males and females—
وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَمَاتَ وَأَحْيَا ٤٤
And He is the One Who gives life and causes death.
وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَضْحَكَ وَأَبْكَىٰ ٤٣
Moreover, He is the One Who brings about joy and sadness.
وَأَنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلْمُنتَهَىٰ ٤٢
and that to your Lord ?alone? is the ultimate return ?of all things?.
ثُمَّ يُجْزَٮٰهُ ٱلْجَزَآءَ ٱلْأَوْفَىٰ ٤١
then they will be fully rewarded,
وَأَنَّ سَعْيَهُۥ سَوْفَ يُرَىٰ ٤٠
and that ?the outcome of? their endeavours will be seen ?in their record?,
لَّا بَارِدٍ وَلَا كَرِيمٍ ٤٤
neither cool nor refreshing.
وَظِلٍّ مِّن يَحْمُومٍ ٤٣
in the shade of black smoke,
فِى سَمُومٍ وَحَمِيمٍ ٤٢
?They will be? in scorching heat and boiling water,
وَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلشِّمَالِ مَآ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلشِّمَالِ ٤١
And the people of the left—how ?miserable? will they be!
وَثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ ٱلْأَخِرِينَ ٤٠
and a multitude from later generations.
ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ٣٩
?who will be? a multitude from earlier generations
لِّأَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ ٣٨
for the people of the right,
عُرُبًا أَتْرَابًا ٣٧
loving and of equal age,
إِنَّآ أَنشَأْنَـٰهُنَّ إِنشَآءً ٣٥
Indeed, We will have perfectly created their mates,
فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُنَّ أَبْكَارًا ٣٦
making them virgins,
وَفُرُشٍ مَّرْفُوعَةٍ ٣٤
and elevated furnishings.
لَّا مَقْطُوعَةٍ وَلَا مَمْنُوعَةٍ ٣٣
never out of season nor forbidden—
وَفَـٰكِهَةٍ كَثِيرَةٍ ٣٢
abundant fruit—
وَمَآءٍ مَّسْكُوبٍ ٣١
flowing water,
وَظِلٍّ مَّمْدُودٍ ٣٠
extended shade,
وَطَلْحٍ مَّنضُودٍ ٢٩
clusters of bananas,
فِى سِدْرٍ مَّخْضُودٍ ٢٨
?They will be? amid thornless lote trees,
وَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْيَمِينِ مَآ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْيَمِينِ ٢٧
And the people of the right—how ?blessed? will they be!
إِلَّا قِيلاً سَلَـٰمًا سَلَـٰمًا ٢٦
only good and virtuous speech.
لَا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا تَأْثِيمًا ٢٥
There they will never hear any idle or sinful talk—
جَزَآءَۢ بِمَا كَانُواْ يَعْمَلُونَ ٢٤
?all? as a reward for what they used to do.
كَأَمْثَـٰلِ ٱللُّؤْلُوِٕ ٱلْمَكْنُونِ ٢٣
like pristine pearls,
وَحُورٌ عِينٌ ٢٢
And ?they will have? maidens with gorgeous eyes,
وَلَحْمِ طَيْرٍ مِّمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ ٢١
and meat from any bird they desire.
وَفَـٰكِهَةٍ مِّمَّا يَتَخَيَّرُونَ ٢٠
?They will also be served? any fruit they choose
لَّا يُصَدَّعُونَ عَنْهَا وَلَا يُنزِفُونَ ١٩
that will cause them neither headache nor intoxication.
بِأَكْوَابٍ وَأَبَارِيقَ وَكَأْسٍ مِّن مَّعِينٍ ١٨
with cups, pitchers, and a drink ?of pure wine? from a flowing stream,
يَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ وِلْدَٲنٌ مُّخَلَّدُونَ ١٧
They will be waited on by eternal youths
مُّتَّكِــِٔينَ عَلَيْهَا مُتَقَـٰبِلِينَ ١٦
reclining face to face.
عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مَّوْضُونَةٍ ١٥
?All will be? on jewelled thrones,
وَقَلِيلٌ مِّنَ ٱلْأَخِرِينَ ١٤
and a few from later generations.
ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ١٣
?They will be? a multitude from earlier generations
فِى جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ ١٢
in the Gardens of Bliss.
أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ ١١
They are the ones nearest ?to Allah?,
وَٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَ ٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَ ١٠
and the foremost ?in faith? will be the foremost ?in Paradise?.
وَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَشْــَٔمَةِ مَآ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَشْــَٔمَةِ ٩
the people of the left, how ?miserable? will they be;
فَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ مَآ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ ٨
the people of the right, how ?blessed? will they be;
وَكُنتُمْ أَزْوَٲجًا ثَلَـٰثَةً ٧
you will ?all? be ?divided into? three groups:
فَكَانَتْ هَبَآءً مُّنۢبَثًّا ٦
becoming scattered ?particles of? dust,
وَبُسَّتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ بَسًّا ٥
and the mountains will be crushed to pieces,
إِذَا رُجَّتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ رَجًّا ٤
When the earth will be violently shaken,
خَافِضَةٌ رَّافِعَةٌ ٣
It will debase ?some? and elevate ?others?.
لَيْسَ لِوَقْعَتِهَا كَاذِبَةٌ ٢
then no one can deny it has come.
إِذَا وَقَعَتِ ٱلْوَاقِعَةُ ١
When the Inevitable Event takes place,
تَبَـٰرَكَ ٱسْمُ رَبِّكَ ذِى ٱلْجَلَـٰلِ وَٱلْإِكْرَامِ ٧٨
Blessed is the Name of your Lord, full of Majesty and Honour.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٧٧
Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?
مُتَّكِــِٔينَ عَلَىٰ رَفْرَفٍ خُضْرٍ وَعَبْقَرِىٍّ حِسَانٍ ٧٦
All ?believers? will be reclining on green cushions and splendid carpets.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٧٥
Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?
لَمْ يَطْمِثْهُنَّ إِنسٌ قَبْلَهُمْ وَلَا جَآنٌّ ٧٤
No human or jinn has ever touched these ?maidens? before.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٧٣
Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?
حُورٌ مَّقْصُورَٲتٌ فِى ٱلْخِيَامِ ٧٢
?They will be? maidens with gorgeous eyes, reserved in pavilions.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٧١
Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?
فِيهِنَّ خَيْرَٲتٌ حِسَانٌ ٧٠
In all Gardens will be noble, pleasant mates.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٦٩
Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?
فِيهِمَا فَـٰكِهَةٌ وَنَخْلٌ وَرُمَّانٌ ٦٨
In both will be fruit, palm trees, and pomegranates.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٦٧
Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?
فِيهِمَا عَيْنَانِ نَضَّاخَتَانِ ٦٦
In each will be two gushing springs.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٦٥
Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?
مُدْهَآمَّتَانِ ٦٤
Both will be dark green.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٦٣
Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?
وَمِن دُونِهِمَا جَنَّتَانِ ٦٢
And below these two ?Gardens? will be two others.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٦١
Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?
هَلْ جَزَآءُ ٱلْإِحْسَـٰنِ إِلَّا ٱلْإِحْسَـٰنُ ٦٠
Is there any reward for goodness except goodness?
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٥٩
Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?
كَأَنَّهُنَّ ٱلْيَاقُوتُ وَٱلْمَرْجَانُ ٥٨
Those ?maidens? will be ?as elegant? as rubies and coral.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٥٧
Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?
فِيهِنَّ قَـٰصِرَٲتُ ٱلطَّرْفِ لَمْ يَطْمِثْهُنَّ إِنسٌ قَبْلَهُمْ وَلَا جَآنٌّ ٥٦
In both ?Gardens? will be maidens of modest gaze, who no human or jinn has ever touched before.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٥٥
Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?
مُتَّكِــِٔينَ عَلَىٰ فُرُشِۭ بَطَآئِنُهَا مِنْ إِسْتَبْرَقٍۚ وَجَنَى ٱلْجَنَّتَيْنِ دَانٍ ٥٤
Those ?believers? will recline on furnishings lined with rich brocade. And the fruit of both Gardens will hang within reach.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٥٣
Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?
فِيهِمَا مِن كُلِّ فَـٰكِهَةٍ زَوْجَانِ ٥٢
In each will be two types of every fruit.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٥١
Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?
فِيهِمَا عَيْنَانِ تَجْرِيَانِ ٥٠
In each ?Garden? will be two flowing springs.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٤٩
Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?
ذَوَاتَآ أَفْنَانٍ ٤٨
?Both will be? with lush branches.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٤٧
Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?
وَلِمَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ جَنَّتَانِ ٤٦
And whoever is in awe of standing before their Lord will have two Gardens.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٤٥
Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?
يَطُوفُونَ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَ حَمِيمٍ ءَانٍ ٤٤
They will alternate between its flames and scalding water.
هَـٰذِهِۦ جَهَنَّمُ ٱلَّتِى يُكَذِّبُ بِهَا ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ ٤٣
?They will be told,? “This is the Hell which the wicked denied.”
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٤٢
Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?
يُعْرَفُ ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ بِسِيمَـٰهُمْ فَيُؤْخَذُ بِٱلنَّوَٲصِى وَٱلْأَقْدَامِ ٤١
The wicked will be recognized by their appearance, then will be seized by ?their? forelocks and feet.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٤٠
Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?
فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَّا يُسْــَٔلُ عَن ذَنۢبِهِۦٓ إِنسٌ وَلَا جَآنٌّ ٣٩
On that Day there will be no need for any human or jinn to be asked about their sins.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٣٨
Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?
فَإِذَا ٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتْ وَرْدَةً كَٱلدِّهَانِ ٣٧
?How horrible will it be? when the heavens will split apart, becoming rose-red like ?burnt? oil!
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٣٦
Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?
يُرْسَلُ عَلَيْكُمَا شُوَاظٌ مِّن نَّارٍ وَنُحَاسٌ فَلَا تَنتَصِرَانِ ٣٥
Flames of fire and ?molten? copper will be sent against you, and you will not be able to defend one another.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٣٤
Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?
يَـٰمَعْشَرَ ٱلْجِنِّ وَٱلْإِنسِ إِنِ ٱسْتَطَعْتُمْ أَن تَنفُذُواْ مِنْ أَقْطَارِ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ فَٱنفُذُواْۚ لَا تَنفُذُونَ إِلَّا بِسُلْطَـٰنٍ ٣٣
O assembly of jinn and humans! If you can penetrate beyond the realms of the heavens and the earth, then do so. ?But? you cannot do that without ?Our? authority.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٣٢
Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?
سَنَفْرُغُ لَكُمْ أَيُّهَ ٱلثَّقَلَانِ ٣١
We will soon attend to you ?for judgment?, O two multitudes ?of jinn and humans?!
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٣٠
Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?
يَسْــَٔلُهُۥ مَن فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِۚ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ هُوَ فِى شَأْنٍ ٢٩
All those in the heavens and the earth are dependent on Him. Day in and day out He has something to bring about.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٢٨
Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?
وَيَبْقَىٰ وَجْهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو ٱلْجَلَـٰلِ وَٱلْإِكْرَامِ ٢٧
Only your Lord Himself, full of Majesty and Honour, will remain ?forever?.
كُلُّ مَنْ عَلَيْهَا فَانٍ ٢٦
Every being on earth is bound to perish.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٢٥
Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?
وَلَهُ ٱلْجَوَارِ ٱلْمُنشَـَٔـاتُ فِى ٱلْبَحْرِ كَٱلْأَعْلَـٰمِ ٢٤
To Him belong the ships with raised sails, sailing through the seas like mountains.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٢٣
Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?
يَخْرُجُ مِنْهُمَا ٱللُّؤْلُؤُ وَٱلْمَرْجَانُ ٢٢
Out of both ?waters? come forth pearls and coral.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٢١
Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?
بَيْنَهُمَا بَرْزَخٌ لَّا يَبْغِيَانِ ٢٠
yet between them is a barrier they never cross.
مَرَجَ ٱلْبَحْرَيْنِ يَلْتَقِيَانِ ١٩
He merges the two bodies of ?fresh and salt? water,
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ١٨
Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?
رَبُّ ٱلْمَشْرِقَيْنِ وَرَبُّ ٱلْمَغْرِبَيْنِ ١٧
?He is? Lord of the two easts and the two wests.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ١٦
Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?
وَخَلَقَ ٱلْجَآنَّ مِن مَّارِجٍ مِّن نَّارٍ ١٥
and created jinn from a ?smokeless? flame of fire.
وَٱلْحَبُّ ذُو ٱلْعَصْفِ وَٱلرَّيْحَانُ ١٢
and grain with husks, and aromatic plants.
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ١٣
Then which of your Lord’s favours will you ?humans and jinn? both deny?
خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مِن صَلْصَـٰلٍ كَٱلْفَخَّارِ ١٤
He created humankind from ?sounding? clay like pottery,
فِيهَا فَـٰكِهَةٌ وَٱلنَّخْلُ ذَاتُ ٱلْأَكْمَامِ ١١
In it are fruit, palm trees with date stalks,
وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلْأَنَامِ ١٠
He laid out the earth for all beings.
وَأَقِيمُواْ ٱلْوَزْنَ بِٱلْقِسْطِ وَلَا تُخْسِرُواْ ٱلْمِيزَانَ ٩
Weigh with justice, and do not give short measure.
أَلَّا تَطْغَوْاْ فِى ٱلْمِيزَانِ ٨
so that you do not defraud the scales.
وَٱلسَّمَآءَ رَفَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ ٱلْمِيزَانَ ٧
As for the sky, He raised it ?high?, and set the balance ?of justice?
وَٱلنَّجْمُ وَٱلشَّجَرُ يَسْجُدَانِ ٦
The stars and the trees bow down ?in submission?.
ٱلشَّمْسُ وَٱلْقَمَرُ بِحُسْبَانٍ ٥
The sun and the moon ?travel? with precision.
عَلَّمَهُ ٱلْبَيَانَ ٤
?and? taught them speech.
عَلَّمَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ ٢
taught the Quran,
خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ ٣
created humanity,
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ ١
The Most Compassionate
فِى مَقْعَدِ صِدْقٍ عِندَ مَلِيكٍ مُّقْتَدِرِۭ ٥٥
at the Seat of Honour in the presence of the Most Powerful Sovereign.
إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّـٰتٍ وَنَهَرٍ ٥٤
Indeed, the righteous will be amid Gardens and rivers,
وَكُلُّ صَغِيرٍ وَكَبِيرٍ مُّسْتَطَرٌ ٥٣
Every matter, small and large, is written ?precisely?.
وَكُلُّ شَىْءٍ فَعَلُوهُ فِى ٱلزُّبُرِ ٥٢
Everything they have done is ?listed? in ?their? records.
وَلَقَدْ أَهْلَكْنَآ أَشْيَاعَكُمْ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ ٥١
We have already destroyed the likes of you. So will any ?of you? be mindful?
وَمَآ أَمْرُنَآ إِلَّا وَٲحِدَةٌ كَلَمْحِۭ بِٱلْبَصَرِ ٥٠
Our command is but a single word, done in the blink of an eye.
إِنَّا كُلَّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقْنَـٰهُ بِقَدَرٍ ٤٩
Indeed, We have created everything, perfectly preordained.
يَوْمَ يُسْحَبُونَ فِى ٱلنَّارِ عَلَىٰ وُجُوهِهِمْ ذُوقُواْ مَسَّ سَقَرَ ٤٨
On the Day they will be dragged into the Fire on their faces, ?they will be told,? “Taste the touch of Hell!”
إِنَّ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ فِى ضَلَـٰلٍ وَسُعُرٍ ٤٧
Indeed, the wicked are ?entrenched? in misguidance, and ?are bound for? blazes.
بَلِ ٱلسَّاعَةُ مَوْعِدُهُمْ وَٱلسَّاعَةُ أَدْهَىٰ وَأَمَرُّ ٤٦
Better yet, the Hour is their appointed time—and the Hour will be most catastrophic and most bitter.
سَيُهْزَمُ ٱلْجَمْعُ وَيُوَلُّونَ ٱلدُّبُرَ ٤٥
?Soon? their united front will be defeated and ?forced to? flee.
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ نَحْنُ جَمِيعٌ مُّنتَصِرٌ ٤٤
Or do they say, “We are all ?a? united ?front?, bound to prevail.”?
أَكُفَّارُكُمْ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ أُوْلَـٰٓئِكُمْ أَمْ لَكُم بَرَآءَةٌ فِى ٱلزُّبُرِ ٤٣
Now, are you ?Meccan? disbelievers superior to those ?destroyed peoples?? Or have you ?been granted? immunity ?from punishment? in divine Books?
كَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔـايَـٰتِنَا كُلِّهَا فَأَخَذْنَـٰهُمْ أَخْذَ عَزِيزٍ مُّقْتَدِرٍ ٤٢
?But? they rejected all of Our signs, so We seized them with the ?crushing? grip of the Almighty, Most Powerful.
وَلَقَدْ جَآءَ ءَالَ فِرْعَوْنَ ٱلنُّذُرُ ٤١
And indeed, the warnings ?also? came to the people of Pharaoh.
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ ٤٠
And We have certainly made the Quran easy to remember. So is there anyone who will be mindful?
فَذُوقُواْ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ ٣٩
?Again they were told,? “Taste now My punishment and warnings!”
وَلَقَدْ صَبَّحَهُم بُكْرَةً عَذَابٌ مُّسْتَقِرٌّ ٣٨
And indeed, by the early morning they were overwhelmed by an unrelenting torment.
وَلَقَدْ رَٲوَدُوهُ عَن ضَيْفِهِۦ فَطَمَسْنَآ أَعْيُنَهُمْ فَذُوقُواْ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ ٣٧
And they even demanded his angel-guests from him, so We blinded their eyes. ?And they were told,? “Taste then My punishment and warnings!”
وَلَقَدْ أَنذَرَهُم بَطْشَتَنَا فَتَمَارَوْاْ بِٱلنُّذُرِ ٣٦
He had already warned them of Our ?crushing? blow but they disputed the warnings.
نِّعْمَةً مِّنْ عِندِنَاۚ كَذَٲلِكَ نَجْزِى مَن شَكَرَ ٣٥
as a blessing from Us. This is how We reward whoever gives thanks.
إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حَاصِبًا إِلَّآ ءَالَ لُوطٍۖ نَّجَّيْنَـٰهُم بِسَحَرٍ ٣٤
We unleashed upon them a storm of stones. As for ?the believers of? Lot’s family, We delivered them before dawn
كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ لُوطِۭ بِٱلنُّذُرِ ٣٣
The people of Lot ?also? rejected the warnings.
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ ٣٢
And We have certainly made the Quran easy to remember. So is there anyone who will be mindful?
إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ صَيْحَةً وَٲحِدَةً فَكَانُواْ كَهَشِيمِ ٱلْمُحْتَظِرِ ٣١
Indeed, We sent against them ?only? one ?mighty? blast, leaving them like the twigs of fence-builders.
فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ ٣٠
Then how ?dreadful? were My punishment and warnings!
فَنَادَوْاْ صَاحِبَهُمْ فَتَعَاطَىٰ فَعَقَرَ ٢٩
But they roused a companion of theirs, so he dared to kill ?her?.
وَنَبِّئْهُمْ أَنَّ ٱلْمَآءَ قِسْمَةُۢ بَيْنَهُمْۖ كُلُّ شِرْبٍ مُّحْتَضَرٌ ٢٨
And tell them that the ?drinking? water must be divided between them ?and her?, each taking a turn to drink ?every other day?.”
إِنَّا مُرْسِلُواْ ٱلنَّاقَةِ فِتْنَةً لَّهُمْ فَٱرْتَقِبْهُمْ وَٱصْطَبِرْ ٢٧
We are sending the she-camel as a test for them. So watch them ?closely?, and have patience.
سَيَعْلَمُونَ غَدًا مَّنِ ٱلْكَذَّابُ ٱلْأَشِرُ ٢٦
?It was revealed to ?âli?,? “They will soon know who the boastful liar is.
أَءُلْقِىَ ٱلذِّكْرُ عَلَيْهِ مِنۢ بَيْنِنَا بَلْ هُوَ كَذَّابٌ أَشِرٌ ٢٥
Has the revelation been sent down ?only? to him out of ?all of? us? In fact, he is a boastful liar.”
فَقَالُوٓاْ أَبَشَرًا مِّنَّا وَٲحِدًا نَّتَّبِعُهُۥٓ إِنَّآ إِذًا لَّفِى ضَلَـٰلٍ وَسُعُرٍ ٢٤
arguing, “How can we follow one ?average? human being from among us? We would then truly be misguided and insane.
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِٱلنُّذُرِ ٢٣
Thamûd rejected the warnings ?as well?,
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ ٢٢
And We have certainly made the Quran easy to remember. So is there anyone who will be mindful?
فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِى وَنُذُرِ ٢١
Then how ?dreadful? were My punishment and warnings!
وَأَن لَّيْسَ لِلْإِنسَـٰنِ إِلَّا مَا سَعَىٰ ٣٩
and that each person will only have what they endeavoured towards,
أَلَّا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِزْرَ أُخْرَىٰ ٣٨
?They state? that no soul burdened with sin will bear the burden of another,
وَإِبْرَٲهِيمَ ٱلَّذِى وَفَّىٰٓ ٣٧
and ?that of? Abraham, who ?perfectly? fulfilled ?his covenant??
أَمْ لَمْ يُنَبَّأْ بِمَا فِى صُحُفِ مُوسَىٰ ٣٦
Or has he not been informed of what is in the Scripture of Moses,
أَعِندَهُۥ عِلْمُ ٱلْغَيْبِ فَهُوَ يَرَىٰٓ ٣٥
Does he have the knowledge of the unseen so that he sees ?the Hereafter??
وَأَعْطَىٰ قَلِيلاً وَأَكْدَىٰٓ ٣٤
and ?initially? paid a little ?for his salvation?, and then stopped?
أَفَرَءَيْتَ ٱلَّذِى تَوَلَّىٰ ٣٣
Have you seen the one who turned away ?from Islam,?
ٱلَّذِينَ يَجْتَنِبُونَ كَبَـٰٓئِرَ ٱلْإِثْمِ وَٱلْفَوَٲحِشَ إِلَّا ٱللَّمَمَۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ وَٲسِعُ ٱلْمَغْفِرَةِۚ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِكُمْ إِذْ أَنشَأَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ وَإِذْ أَنتُمْ أَجِنَّةٌ فِى بُطُونِ أُمَّهَـٰتِكُمْۖ فَلَا تُزَكُّوٓاْ أَنفُسَكُمْۖ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنِ ٱتَّقَىٰٓ ٣٢
those who avoid major sins and shameful deeds, despite ?stumbling on? minor sins. Surely your Lord is infinite in forgiveness. He knew well what would become of you as He created you from the earth and while you were ?still? fetuses in the wombs of your mothers. So do not ?falsely? elevate yourselves. He knows best who is ?truly? righteous.
وَلِلَّهِ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ لِيَجْزِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَسَـٰٓـــُٔواْ بِمَا عَمِلُواْ وَيَجْزِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُواْ بِٱلْحُسْنَى ٣١
To Allah ?alone? belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth so that He may reward the evildoers according to what they did, and reward the good-doers with the finest reward—
ذَٲلِكَ مَبْلَغُهُم مِّنَ ٱلْعِلْمِۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنِ ٱهْتَدَىٰ ٣٠
This is the extent of their knowledge. Surely your Lord knows best who has strayed from His Way and who is ?rightly? guided.
فَأَعْرِضْ عَن مَّن تَوَلَّىٰ عَن ذِكْرِنَا وَلَمْ يُرِدْ إِلَّا ٱلْحَيَوٲةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا ٢٩
So turn away ?O Prophet? from whoever has shunned Our Reminder, only seeking the ?fleeting? life of this world.
وَمَا لَهُم بِهِۦ مِنْ عِلْمٍۖ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّۖ وَإِنَّ ٱلظَّنَّ لَا يُغْنِى مِنَ ٱلْحَقِّ شَيْــًٔا ٢٨
although they have no knowledge ?in support? of this. They follow nothing but ?inherited? assumptions. And surely assumptions can in no way replace the truth.
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱلْأَخِرَةِ لَيُسَمُّونَ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ تَسْمِيَةَ ٱلْأُنثَىٰ ٢٧
Indeed, those who do not believe in the Hereafter label angels as female,
۞ وَكَم مِّن مَّلَكٍ فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِ لَا تُغْنِى شَفَـٰعَتُهُمْ شَيْــًٔا إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعْدِ أَن يَأْذَنَ ٱللَّهُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيَرْضَىٰٓ ٢٦
?Imagine? how many ?noble? angels are in the heavens! ?Even? their intercession would be of no benefit whatsoever, until Allah gives permission to whoever He wills and ?only for the people He? approves.
فَلِلَّهِ ٱلْأَخِرَةُ وَٱلْأُولَىٰ ٢٥
In fact, to Allah ?alone? belongs this world and the next.
أَمْ لِلْإِنسَـٰنِ مَا تَمَنَّىٰ ٢٤
Or should every person ?simply? have whatever ?intercessors? they desire?
إِنْ هِىَ إِلَّآ أَسْمَآءٌ سَمَّيْتُمُوهَآ أَنتُمْ وَءَابَآؤُكُم مَّآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ بِهَا مِن سُلْطَـٰنٍۚ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ وَمَا تَهْوَى ٱلْأَنفُسُۖ وَلَقَدْ جَآءَهُم مِّن رَّبِّهِمُ ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ ٢٣
These ?idols? are mere names that you and your forefathers have made up—a practice Allah has never authorized. They follow nothing but ?inherited? assumptions and whatever ?their? souls desire, although ?true? guidance has already come to them from their Lord.
تِلْكَ إِذًا قِسْمَةٌ ضِيزَىٰٓ ٢٢
Then this is ?truly? a biased distribution!
أَلَكُمُ ٱلذَّكَرُ وَلَهُ ٱلْأُنثَىٰ ٢١
Do you ?prefer to? have sons while ?you attribute? to Him daughters?
لَقَدْ رَأَىٰ مِنْ ءَايَـٰتِ رَبِّهِ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰٓ ١٨
He certainly saw some of his Lord’s greatest signs.
أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ ٱللَّـٰتَ وَٱلْعُزَّىٰ ١٩
Now, have you considered ?the idols of? Lât and ’Uzza,
وَمَنَوٲةَ ٱلثَّالِثَةَ ٱلْأُخْرَىٰٓ ٢٠
and the third one, Manât, as well?
مَا زَاغَ ٱلْبَصَرُ وَمَا طَغَىٰ ١٧
The ?Prophet’s? sight never wandered, nor did it overreach.
إِذْ يَغْشَى ٱلسِّدْرَةَ مَا يَغْشَىٰ ١٦
while the Lote Tree was overwhelmed with ?heavenly? splendours!
عِندَهَا جَنَّةُ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰٓ ١٥
near which is the Garden of ?Eternal? Residence—
عِندَ سِدْرَةِ ٱلْمُنتَهَىٰ ١٤
at the Lote Tree of the most extreme limit ?in the seventh heaven?—
وَلَقَدْ رَءَاهُ نَزْلَةً أُخْرَىٰ ١٣
And he certainly saw that ?angel descend? a second time
أَفَتُمَـٰرُونَهُۥ عَلَىٰ مَا يَرَىٰ ١٢
How can you ?O pagans? then dispute with him regarding what he saw?
مَا كَذَبَ ٱلْفُؤَادُ مَا رَأَىٰٓ ١١
The ?Prophet’s? heart did not doubt what he saw.
فَأَوْحَىٰٓ إِلَىٰ عَبْدِهِۦ مَآ أَوْحَىٰ ١٠
Then Allah revealed to His servant what He revealed ?through Gabriel?.
ثُمَّ دَنَا فَتَدَلَّىٰ ٨
then he approached ?the Prophet?, coming so close
فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوْسَيْنِ أَوْ أَدْنَىٰ ٩
that he was only two arms-lengths away or even less.
وَهُوَ بِٱلْأُفُقِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ ٧
while on the highest point above the horizon,
ذُو مِرَّةٍ فَٱسْتَوَىٰ ٦
and great perfection, who once rose to ?his? true form
عَلَّمَهُۥ شَدِيدُ ٱلْقُوَىٰ ٥
He has been taught by one ?angel? of mighty power
إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحْىٌ يُوحَىٰ ٤
It is only a revelation sent down ?to him?.
وَمَا يَنطِقُ عَنِ ٱلْهَوَىٰٓ ٣
Nor does he speak of his own whims.
مَا ضَلَّ صَاحِبُكُمْ وَمَا غَوَىٰ ٢
Your fellow man is neither misguided nor astray.
وَٱلنَّجْمِ إِذَا هَوَىٰ ١
By the stars when they fade away!
وَمِنَ ٱلَّيْلِ فَسَبِّحْهُ وَإِدْبَـٰرَ ٱلنُّجُومِ ٤٩
And glorify Him during part of the night and at the fading of the stars.
وَٱصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ فَإِنَّكَ بِأَعْيُنِنَاۖ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ ٤٨
So be patient with your Lord’s decree, for you are truly under Our ?watchful? Eyes. And glorify the praises of your Lord when you rise.
وَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ عَذَابًا دُونَ ذَٲلِكَ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ٤٧
Also, the wrongdoers will certainly have another torment before that ?Day?, but most of them do not know.
يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِى عَنْهُمْ كَيْدُهُمْ شَيْــًٔا وَلَا هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ ٤٦
the Day their scheming will be of no benefit to them whatsoever, nor will they be helped.
فَذَرْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ يُلَـٰقُواْ يَوْمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى فِيهِ يُصْعَقُونَ ٤٥
So leave them until they face their Day in which they will be struck dead—
وَإِن يَرَوْاْ كِسْفًا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ سَاقِطًا يَقُولُواْ سَحَابٌ مَّرْكُومٌ ٤٤
If they were to see a ?deadly? piece of the sky fall down ?upon them?, still they would say, “?This is just? a pile of clouds.”
أَمْ لَهُمْ إِلَـٰهٌ غَيْرُ ٱللَّهِۚ سُبْحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ ٤٣
Or do they have a god other than Allah? Glorified is Allah far above what they associate ?with Him?!
أَمْ يُرِيدُونَ كَيْدًاۖ فَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ هُمُ ٱلْمَكِيدُونَ ٤٢
Or do they intend to scheme ?against the Prophet?? Then it is the disbelievers who will fall victim to ?their? schemes.
أَمْ عِندَهُمُ ٱلْغَيْبُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُونَ ٤١
Or do they have access to ?the Record in? the unseen, so they copy it ?for all to see??
أَمْ تَسْــَٔلُهُمْ أَجْرًا فَهُم مِّن مَّغْرَمٍ مُّثْقَلُونَ ٤٠
Or are you ?O Prophet? asking them for a reward ?for the message? so that they are overburdened by debt?
أَمْ لَهُ ٱلْبَنَـٰتُ وَلَكُمُ ٱلْبَنُونَ ٣٩
Or does He have daughters ?as you claim?, while you ?prefer to? have sons?
أَمْ لَهُمْ سُلَّمٌ يَسْتَمِعُونَ فِيهِۖ فَلْيَأْتِ مُسْتَمِعُهُم بِسُلْطَـٰنٍ مُّبِينٍ ٣٨
Or do they have a stairway, by which they eavesdrop ?on the heavens?? Then let those who do so bring a compelling proof.
أَمْ عِندَهُمْ خَزَآئِنُ رَبِّكَ أَمْ هُمُ ٱلْمُصَۣيْطِرُونَ ٣٧
Or do they possess the treasuries of your Lord, or are they in control ?of everything??
أَمْ خَلَقُواْ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَۚ بَل لَّا يُوقِنُونَ ٣٦
Or did they create the heavens and the earth? In fact, they have no firm belief ?in Allah?.
أَمْ خُلِقُواْ مِنْ غَيْرِ شَىْءٍ أَمْ هُمُ ٱلْخَـٰلِقُونَ ٣٥
Or were they created by nothing, or are they ?their own? creators?
فَلْيَأْتُواْ بِحَدِيثٍ مِّثْلِهِۦٓ إِن كَانُواْ صَـٰدِقِينَ ٣٤
Let them then produce something like it, if what they say is true!
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ تَقَوَّلَهُۥۚ بَل لَّا يُؤْمِنُونَ ٣٣
Or do they say, “He made this ?Quran? up!”? In fact, they have no faith.
أَمْ تَأْمُرُهُمْ أَحْلَـٰمُهُم بِهَـٰذَآۚ أَمْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ طَاغُونَ ٣٢
Or do their ?intelligent? minds prompt them to this ?paradox?? Or are they ?just? a transgressing people?
قُلْ تَرَبَّصُواْ فَإِنِّى مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْمُتَرَبِّصِينَ ٣١
Say, “Keep waiting! I too am waiting with you.”
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ شَاعِرٌ نَّتَرَبَّصُ بِهِۦ رَيْبَ ٱلْمَنُونِ ٣٠
Or do they say, “?He is? a poet, for whom we ?eagerly? await an ill-fate!”?
فَذَكِّرْ فَمَآ أَنتَ بِنِعْمَتِ رَبِّكَ بِكَاهِنٍ وَلَا مَجْنُونٍ ٢٩
So ?continue to? remind ?all, O Prophet?. For you, by the grace of your Lord, are not a fortune-teller or a madman.
إِنَّا كُنَّا مِن قَبْلُ نَدْعُوهُۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْبَرُّ ٱلرَّحِيمُ ٢٨
Indeed, we used to call upon Him ?alone? before. He is truly the Most Kind, Most Merciful.”
فَمَنَّ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْنَا وَوَقَـٰنَا عَذَابَ ٱلسَّمُومِ ٢٧
So Allah has graced us and protected us from the torment of ?Hell’s? scorching heat.
قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّا كُنَّا قَبْلُ فِىٓ أَهْلِنَا مُشْفِقِينَ ٢٦
They will say, “Before ?this reward? we used to be in awe ?of Allah? in the midst of our people.
وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ ٢٥
They will turn to one another inquisitively.
۞ وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ غِلْمَانٌ لَّهُمْ كَأَنَّهُمْ لُؤْلُؤٌ مَّكْنُونٌ ٢٤
And they will be waited on by their youthful servants like spotless pearls.
يَتَنَـٰزَعُونَ فِيهَا كَأْسًا لَّا لَغْوٌ فِيهَا وَلَا تَأْثِيمٌ ٢٣
They will pass around to each other a drink ?of pure wine,? which leads to no idle talk or sinfulness.
وَأَمْدَدْنَـٰهُم بِفَـٰكِهَةٍ وَلَحْمٍ مِّمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ ٢٢
And We will ?continually? provide them with whatever fruit or meat they desire.
وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَٱتَّبَعَتْهُمْ ذُرِّيَّتُهُم بِإِيمَـٰنٍ أَلْحَقْنَا بِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ وَمَآ أَلَتْنَـٰهُم مِّنْ عَمَلِهِم مِّن شَىْءٍۚ كُلُّ ٱمْرِىِٕۭ بِمَا كَسَبَ رَهِينٌ ٢١
As for those who believe and whose descendants follow them in faith, We will elevate their descendants to their rank, never discounting anything ?of the reward? of their deeds. Every person will reap only what they sowed.
مُتَّكِــِٔينَ عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مَّصْفُوفَةٍۖ وَزَوَّجْنَـٰهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٍ ٢٠
They will be reclining on thrones, ?neatly? lined up ?facing each other?. And We will pair them to maidens with gorgeous eyes.
كُلُواْ وَٱشْرَبُواْ هَنِيٓـــَٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ ١٩
?They will be told,? “Eat and drink happily for what you used to do.”
فَـٰكِهِينَ بِمَآ ءَاتَـٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ وَوَقَـٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ عَذَابَ ٱلْجَحِيمِ ١٨
enjoying whatever their Lord will have granted them. And their Lord will have protected them from the torment of the Hellfire.
إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّـٰتٍ وَنَعِيمٍ ١٧
Indeed, the righteous will be in Gardens and bliss,
ٱصْلَوْهَا فَٱصْبِرُوٓاْ أَوْ لَا تَصْبِرُواْ سَوَآءٌ عَلَيْكُمْۖ إِنَّمَا تُجْزَوْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ ١٦
Burn in it! It is the same whether you endure ?it? patiently or not. You are only rewarded for what you used to do.”
أَفَسِحْرٌ هَـٰذَآ أَمْ أَنتُمْ لَا تُبْصِرُونَ ١٥
Is this magic, or do you not see?
هَـٰذِهِ ٱلنَّارُ ٱلَّتِى كُنتُم بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ ١٤
?They will be told,? “This is the Fire which you used to deny.
يَوْمَ يُدَعُّونَ إِلَىٰ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ دَعًّا ١٣
?It is? the Day they will be fiercely shoved into the Fire of Hell.
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ فِى خَوْضٍ يَلْعَبُونَ ١٢
those who amuse themselves with falsehood!
فَوَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ١١
Then woe on that Day to the deniers—
وَتَسِيرُ ٱلْجِبَالُ سَيْرًا ١٠
and the mountains will be blown away entirely.
يَوْمَ تَمُورُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ مَوْرًا ٩
on the Day the heavens will be shaken violently,
مَّا لَهُۥ مِن دَافِعٍ ٨
none will avert it—
إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ لَوَٲقِعٌ ٧
Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will come to pass—
وَٱلْبَحْرِ ٱلْمَسْجُورِ ٦
And by the seas set on fire!
وَٱلسَّقْفِ ٱلْمَرْفُوعِ ٥
And by the canopy raised ?high?!
وَٱلْبَيْتِ ٱلْمَعْمُورِ ٤
And by the ?Sacred? House frequently visited!
فِى رَقٍّ مَّنشُورٍ ٣
on open pages ?for all to read?!
وَكِتَـٰبٍ مَّسْطُورٍ ٢
And by the Book written
وَٱلطُّورِ ١
By Mount ?ûr!
فَوَيْلٌ لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِن يَوْمِهِمُ ٱلَّذِى يُوعَدُونَ ٦٠
Woe then to the disbelievers when they face their Day which they are warned of!
فَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ ذَنُوبًا مِّثْلَ ذَنُوبِ أَصْحَـٰبِهِمْ فَلَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونِ ٥٩
The wrongdoers will certainly have a share ?of the torment? like that of their predecessors. So do not let them ask Me to hasten ?it?.
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلرَّزَّاقُ ذُو ٱلْقُوَّةِ ٱلْمَتِينُ ٥٨
Indeed, Allah ?alone? is the Supreme Provider—Lord of all Power, Ever Mighty.
مَآ أُرِيدُ مِنْهُم مِّن رِّزْقٍ وَمَآ أُرِيدُ أَن يُطْعِمُونِ ٥٧
I seek no provision from them, nor do I need them to feed Me.
وَمَا خَلَقْتُ ٱلْجِنَّ وَٱلْإِنسَ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُونِ ٥٦
I did not create jinn and humans except to worship Me.
وَذَكِّرْ فَإِنَّ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ تَنفَعُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ٥٥
But ?continue to? remind. For certainly reminders benefit the believers.
فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ فَمَآ أَنتَ بِمَلُومٍ ٥٤
So ?now? turn away from them ?O Prophet?, for you will not be blamed.
أَتَوَاصَوْاْ بِهِۦۚ بَلْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ طَاغُونَ ٥٣
Have they passed this ?cliché? down to one another? In fact, they have ?all? been a transgressing people.
كَذَٲلِكَ مَآ أَتَى ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا قَالُواْ سَاحِرٌ أَوْ مَجْنُونٌ ٥٢
Similarly, no messenger came to those before them without being told: “A magician or a madman!”
وَلَا تَجْعَلُواْ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَـٰهًا ءَاخَرَۖ إِنِّى لَكُم مِّنْهُ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ ٥١
And do not set up another god with Allah. I am truly sent by Him with a clear warning to you.”
فَفِرُّوٓاْ إِلَى ٱللَّهِۖ إِنِّى لَكُم مِّنْهُ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ ٥٠
So ?proclaim, O Prophet?: “Flee to Allah! I am truly sent by Him with a clear warning to you.
وَمِن كُلِّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقْنَا زَوْجَيْنِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ ٤٩
And We created pairs of all things so perhaps you would be mindful.
وَٱلْأَرْضَ فَرَشْنَـٰهَا فَنِعْمَ ٱلْمَـٰهِدُونَ ٤٨
As for the earth, We spread it out. How superbly did We smooth it out!
وَٱلسَّمَآءَ بَنَيْنَـٰهَا بِأَيْيْدٍ وَإِنَّا لَمُوسِعُونَ ٤٧
We built the universe with ?great? might, and We are certainly expanding ?it?.
وَقَوْمَ نُوحٍ مِّن قَبْلُۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُواْ قَوْمًا فَـٰسِقِينَ ٤٦
And the people of Noah ?had also been destroyed? earlier. They were truly a rebellious people.
فَمَا ٱسْتَطَـٰعُواْ مِن قِيَامٍ وَمَا كَانُواْ مُنتَصِرِينَ ٤٥
Then they were not able to rise up, nor were they helped.
فَعَتَوْاْ عَنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ ٱلصَّـٰعِقَةُ وَهُمْ يَنظُرُونَ ٤٤
Still they persisted in defying the commands of their Lord, so they were overtaken by a ?mighty? blast while they were looking on.
وَفِى ثَمُودَ إِذْ قِيلَ لَهُمْ تَمَتَّعُواْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ ٤٣
And in ?the story of? Thamûd ?was another lesson,? when they were told, “Enjoy yourselves ?only? for a ?short? while.”
مَا تَذَرُ مِن شَىْءٍ أَتَتْ عَلَيْهِ إِلَّا جَعَلَتْهُ كَٱلرَّمِيمِ ٤٢
There was nothing it came upon that it did not reduce to ashes.
وَفِى عَادٍ إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلرِّيحَ ٱلْعَقِيمَ ٤١
And in ?the story of? ’Âd ?was another lesson,? when We sent against them the devastating wind.
فَأَخَذْنَـٰهُ وَجُنُودَهُۥ فَنَبَذْنَـٰهُمْ فِى ٱلْيَمِّ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌ ٤٠
So We seized him and his soldiers, casting them into the sea while he was blameworthy.
فَتَوَلَّىٰ بِرُكْنِهِۦ وَقَالَ سَـٰحِرٌ أَوْ مَجْنُونٌ ٣٩
but Pharaoh was carried away by his power, saying ?of Moses?, “A magician or a madman!”
وَفِى مُوسَىٰٓ إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَـٰهُ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ بِسُلْطَـٰنٍ مُّبِينٍ ٣٨
And in ?the story of? Moses ?was another lesson,? when We sent him to Pharaoh with compelling proof,
وَتَرَكْنَا فِيهَآ ءَايَةً لِّلَّذِينَ يَخَافُونَ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَلِيمَ ٣٧
And We have left a sign there ?as a lesson? for those who fear the painful punishment.
فَمَا وَجَدْنَا فِيهَا غَيْرَ بَيْتٍ مِّنَ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ ٣٦
But We only found one family that had submitted ?to Allah?.
فَأَخْرَجْنَا مَن كَانَ فِيهَا مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ٣٥
Then ?before the torment? We evacuated the believers from the city.
مُّسَوَّمَةً عِندَ رَبِّكَ لِلْمُسْرِفِينَ ٣٤
marked by your Lord for the transgressors.”
لِنُرْسِلَ عَلَيْهِمْ حِجَارَةً مِّن طِينٍ ٣٣
to send upon them stones of ?baked? clay,
قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّآ أُرْسِلْنَآ إِلَىٰ قَوْمٍ مُّجْرِمِينَ ٣٢
They replied, “We have actually been sent to a wicked people,
۞ قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكُمْ أَيُّهَا ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ ٣١
?Later,? Abraham asked, “What is your mission, O messengers?”
