- Abasa Ayah 1عَبَسَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ ١ He frowned and turned ?his attention? away,
- Abasa Ayah 2أَن جَآءَهُ ٱلْأَعْمَىٰ ٢ ?simply? because the blind man came to him ?interrupting?.
- Abasa Ayah 3وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّهُۥ يَزَّكَّىٰٓ ٣ You never know ?O Prophet?, perhaps he may be purified,
- Abasa Ayah 4أَوْ يَذَّكَّرُ فَتَنفَعَهُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰٓ ٤ or he may be mindful, benefitting from the reminder.
- Abasa Ayah 5أَمَّا مَنِ ٱسْتَغْنَىٰ ٥ As for the one who was indifferent,
- Abasa Ayah 6فَأَنتَ لَهُۥ تَصَدَّىٰ ٦ you gave him your ?undivided? attention,
- Abasa Ayah 7وَمَا عَلَيْكَ أَلَّا يَزَّكَّىٰ ٧ even though you are not to blame if he would not be purified.
- Abasa Ayah 8وَأَمَّا مَن جَآءَكَ يَسْعَىٰ ٨ But as for the one who came to you, eager ?to learn?,
- Abasa Ayah 9وَهُوَ يَخْشَىٰ ٩ being in awe ?of Allah?,
- Abasa Ayah 10فَأَنتَ عَنْهُ تَلَهَّىٰ ١٠ you were inattentive to him.
- Abasa Ayah 11كَلَّآ إِنَّهَا تَذْكِرَةٌ ١١ But no! This ?revelation? is truly a reminder.
- Abasa Ayah 12فَمَن شَآءَ ذَكَرَهُۥ ١٢ So let whoever wills be mindful of it.
- Abasa Ayah 13فِى صُحُفٍ مُّكَرَّمَةٍ ١٣ It is ?written? on pages held in honour—
- Abasa Ayah 14مَّرْفُوعَةٍ مُّطَهَّرَةِۭ ١٤ highly esteemed, purified—
- Abasa Ayah 15بِأَيْدِى سَفَرَةٍ ١٥ by the hands of angel-scribes,
- Abasa Ayah 16كِرَامِۭ بَرَرَةٍ ١٦ honourable and virtuous.
- Abasa Ayah 17قُتِلَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مَآ أَكْفَرَهُۥ ١٧ Condemned are ?disbelieving? humans! How ungrateful they are ?to Allah?!
- Abasa Ayah 18مِنْ أَىِّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقَهُۥ ١٨ From what substance did He create them?
- Abasa Ayah 19مِن نُّطْفَةٍ خَلَقَهُۥ فَقَدَّرَهُۥ ١٩ He created them from a sperm-drop, and ordained their development.
- Abasa Ayah 20ثُمَّ ٱلسَّبِيلَ يَسَّرَهُۥ ٢٠ Then He makes the way easy for them,
- Abasa Ayah 21ثُمَّ أَمَاتَهُۥ فَأَقْبَرَهُۥ ٢١ then causes them to die and be buried.
- Abasa Ayah 22ثُمَّ إِذَا شَآءَ أَنشَرَهُۥ ٢٢ Then when He wills, He will resurrect them.
- Abasa Ayah 23كَلَّا لَمَّا يَقْضِ مَآ أَمَرَهُۥ ٢٣ But no! They have failed to comply with what He ordered.
- Abasa Ayah 24فَلْيَنظُرِ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ إِلَىٰ طَعَامِهِۦٓ ٢٤ Let people then consider their food:
- Abasa Ayah 25أَنَّا صَبَبْنَا ٱلْمَآءَ صَبًّا ٢٥ how We pour down rain in abundance
- Abasa Ayah 26ثُمَّ شَقَقْنَا ٱلْأَرْضَ شَقًّا ٢٦ and meticulously split the earth open ?for sprouts?,
- Abasa Ayah 27فَأَنۢبَتْنَا فِيهَا حَبًّا ٢٧ causing grain to grow in it,
- Abasa Ayah 28وَعِنَبًا وَقَضْبًا ٢٨ as well as grapes and greens,
- Abasa Ayah 29وَزَيْتُونًا وَنَخْلاً ٢٩ and olives and palm trees,
- Abasa Ayah 30وَحَدَآئِقَ غُلْبًا ٣٠ and dense orchards,
- Abasa Ayah 31وَفَـٰكِهَةً وَأَبًّا ٣١ and fruit and fodder—
- Abasa Ayah 32مَّتَـٰعًا لَّكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَـٰمِكُمْ ٣٢ all as ?a means of? sustenance for you and your animals.
- Abasa Ayah 34يَوْمَ يَفِرُّ ٱلْمَرْءُ مِنْ أَخِيهِ ٣٤ on that Day every person will flee from their own siblings,
- Abasa Ayah 33فَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلصَّآخَّةُ ٣٣ Then, when the Deafening Blast comes to pass—
- Abasa Ayah 35وَأُمِّهِۦ وَأَبِيهِ ٣٥ and ?even? their mother and father,
- Abasa Ayah 36وَصَـٰحِبَتِهِۦ وَبَنِيهِ ٣٦ and ?even? their spouse and children.
- Abasa Ayah 37لِكُلِّ ٱمْرِىٍٕ مِّنْهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ شَأْنٌ يُغْنِيهِ ٣٧ For then everyone will have enough concern of their own.
- Abasa Ayah 38وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ مُّسْفِرَةٌ ٣٨ On that Day ?some? faces will be bright,
- Abasa Ayah 39ضَاحِكَةٌ مُّسْتَبْشِرَةٌ ٣٩ laughing and rejoicing,
- Abasa Ayah 40وَوُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَلَيْهَا غَبَرَةٌ ٤٠ while ?other? faces will be dusty,
- Abasa Ayah 41تَرْهَقُهَا قَتَرَةٌ ٤١ cast in gloom—
- Abasa Ayah 42أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْكَفَرَةُ ٱلْفَجَرَةُ ٤٢ those are the disbelievers, the ?wicked? sinners.
عبس which is spelled Surah 'Abasa in english has meaning He frowned is placed at number 80 in the Quran. This surah that contains 42 number of ayah, started on page 585 & ends on page 585 in the Holy Quran.
عبس is part of & given to prophet Muhammad as the number 24 in the order of Quran revelation.
